Annapurna Base Camp Trek- one of the famous, most visited trekking route of Nepal. A trek to the base camp of 10th highest mountains in the world is popular for its natural and cultural wonders. Annapurna Base Camp Trek is also known as Annapurna Sanctuary Trek. Mt. Annapurna I (8,091m.), Mt. Annapurna II (7,939m.), Mt. Annapurna III (7,555m.), Mt. Annapurna IV (7,525m.), Mt. Machhapuchre (6,993m.) Mt. Hiuchuli (6,441m.), Mt. Lamjung (6,986m.) are the major mountains one encounter with during ABC Trek.
Except for the high Himalayas and the local culture, the rare flora and faunas of Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP) is the reason behind the popularity of Annapurna Base Camp Trekking. Ghorepani Poonhill- second most popular sunrise view point after Kalapathar and the Natural Hot Spring are the most tourist loved places of Annapurna Base Camp Trekking route.
As trekking in Nepal is the seasonal activity, the best time for Annapurna Base Camp Trekking are pre-monsoon (March-June) and post-monsoon (Sept-Nov).
Day to Day Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu (1,334m): As you arrive in Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu, a Asia Exploration representative will be there for your warm welcome and will escort to your hotel. In evening you will having a welcome dinner with our staff in one of the typical Nepali restaurant at Thamel. Overnight at Hotel.
Day 2: Kathmandu Sightseeing (1,334m.): A full day sightseeing is dedicated to explore some of the UNESCO World Heritage Listed Sites in Kathmandu Valley. Exploration of Soyambhunath- The Monkey Temple, Pashupatinath, Boudhanath and historical Kathmandu Durbar Square are the places sightseeing offers.
Day 3: Drive to Pokhara(820m.):Set off towards Pokhara by tourist bus. Take a scenic drive through Trishuli river bank and reach Pokhara. In free time walk around the streets or take rest in hotel.
Day 4: Pokhara to Tikhedhunga( 1,577m.): From Pokhara with 1.5 hours drive a chartered vehicle will drop to Nayapul. After then start trekking and follow an ascending trail to reach Tikhedhunga for overnight.
Day 5: Tikhedhunga to Ghorepani (2,750m.): Comparatively long but not hard trekking day through dense rhododendron forest (National Flower of Nepal) leads towards Ghorepani. Ghorepani is a Gurung settlement offers the superb mountains views.
Day 6: Visit Poon Hill (3,210m. / 1 hour walk) and Trek to Tadapani (2,630m. /5-6 hours trek): Early morning hike to Poon Hill for sunrise view in Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. Enjoy the magnificent views. After then come back to hotel, take breakfast and start trekking to Tadapani.
Day 7: Tadapani to Chhomrong (2,170m.): From Tadapani the trail first ascends through rhododendron forest then descend to reach Chhomorong. Chhomorong is a beautiful Gurung settlement offers Annapurna South, Fishtail and Himchuli mountains view.
Day 8: Chhomrung to Himalaya (2,920m.): As the trekking goes ahead, the trail descend to Chhomorong Khola and then goes through dense rhododendron forest. With passing some seasonal settlement of Sinuwa and crossing Bamboo and Kaligandaki Gorge reach Himalaya for overnight.
Day 9: Himalaya to Machhapuchre Base Camp (3,700m.): Follow a steep up trail from Himalaya to Machhapuchre Base Camp through Hinku Cave. Machhapuchre Base Camp offers superb views of Annapurna II (7,555m.), Himchuli and Machhapuchre (Fishtail) itself.
Day 10: Machhapuchre Base Camp to Annapurna Base Camp (4,150m.): From Machhapuchre Base Camp, follow ascend up trail to reach Annapurna Base Camp. The magnificent views of Machhpuchre, Annapurna South, Annapurna I, Himchuli and neighboring mountains are ticks of Annapurna Base Camp.
Day 11: Annapurna Base Camp to Bamboo (2,310m.): Early morningenjoy stunning sunrise view in mountains. After then follow a descend trail and trek to Bamboo for overnight.
Day 12: Trek to Jhinu Danda(1,760m.) from Bamboo: The trail follows the same route back to Chhomorong. From Chhomorong take descend trail and trek to Jhinu Danda. Jhinu Danda is natural hot spring place. Take a dip and refresh your tried lungs.
Day 13: Jhinu Danda to Pokhara (820m.): With two hours get back to Nayapul where private vehicle for Pokhara awaits you. With 1.5 hours drive get back to Pokhara city. In free time, enjoy exploring beautiful city.
DAY 14: Drive back Kathmandu (1,334m.): Travel back to Kathmandu by a scenic drive or take a spectacular flight. Do some last minutes shopping in Thamel. In evening join farewell dinner with Asia Exploration staffs.
Day 15: Fly back home: A Asia Exploration representative will accompany you to Tribhuvan International Airport to catch returning flight. Hope to see you again in Nepal. Namaste.
