India is beautiful, rich and poor, and diverse beyond belief - a total and often overwhelming assault on the senses.  Trekking has been a passion of people for decades.  In India it has become very much popular all over. Large numbers of people go trekking consisting of all the age groups from all over. There is major trekking in Indian areas in the Garhwal and Kumaon regions of Uttranchal. There are many popular and beautiful trekking areas near the Gangotri and the Yamunotri. Nanda Devi is one the very popularly marked trekking places that is marked on the Indian map. In the Garhwal Himalayas there is one major trekking route called the Badrinath. The major hill stations in the Himalayas are Jalori Pass trek from Narkanda, Solang Valley to Beas Kund, Dhauladhar treks starting from the region of Dharamsala, Baijnath and Palampur and Pir Panjal trek in the deep Himachal Pradesh. The Tapovan to Shivling trek, Darma Valley trek, Pindari Glacier trek, and Nanda Devi and Milam Glacier trek that is in Uttranchal are famous for trekking. Pensi La to Padum, Karsha to Lamayaru and Spituk to Alchi in Jammu and Kashmir have been very popular for trekking.

So, all that it takes to get going is a love for the mountains / forest / adventure / expectation of the unexpected and a willingness to rough it out. Whichever way one chooses to trek, whatever one chose to tour, one will always enjoy the mighty Himalayas. It is the most amazing place on Earth.
